Let me first introduce myeslf. My name is Chris and I just finished reading through the News-Leader blog on Intelligent Design being taught in schools. I am a Christian, I accepted Christ in my heart and yet I know I am still a sinner because we all fall short of the glory of God. I wanted to write you in your blog because the News-Leader is not the place for what I want to say.
You have a devout heart Mr. Fluharty and a strong wit. Your knowledge and arguements are not only valid and truth, but overbearing. I know your intentions are for Christ and winning souls to Him, but it is my own personal belief that an attack at someone's moral compass and ideology is wrong. They don't believe as we do because they are blind Mr. Fluharty. Christ did not scold the blind, He did not namecall the tax-collectors, He did not patronize the prostitutes, He did not call Paul an idiot, He did not tell the Pharasies to not let the door hit them on the way out, He spoke God's truth to them by both loving actions and words. You know this to be true, Mr. Fluharty, because you are a Christian who has knowledge of the truth. To me it seems as if you have been misled that a verbal force is used to "win souls." On the contrary, Christ taught to love above all else, to serve all those who were deemed lost.
I too have been through my battles (i.e. with sexual immorality and lust--I tell you this to say I'm in no place to condemn you), and the purpose for my post is to assist in any way I can to further the Kingdom of God, just like you.
The very people you are speaking to in this blog are the very people who need to hear the truth, but they believe that most, if not all, Christians are hypocrites who believe that they are "better than you" type attitudes. And by your posts that is how you come accross, intentions or not. Yes, their time is short here on earth and their eyes and ears are closed to the truth, but we are not on our own time but God's and the work of God isn't to tell these people "repent now or be doomed to hell for eternity," but to speak His truth with love and compassion, yes compassion not indignation, and allow God to prevail through your love in which He allowed you to possess by way of His devine creation.
I don't think you a hypocrite, indignate Christian, but passionate and desparate to see all those lost and those idle Christians to see His light and love. I commend you for your work, Mr. Fluharty, and I hope that you don't take my criticism in a bad light, but also as passionate and desparate to see His work completed.

I respect deeply your cander and comments. However, Jesus did confront, rather harshly, the religious zealots who had truth but denoed the power thereof. If you notice I talk to those who claim to be Christian differently then I do to a complete unbeliever. if you claim Christianity but still live like the devil I will call you on it. Unbelivers I use a slight more tact. Also if you remember in the old testament the prophets were rather agressive as well. Each person has a duty in the Kingdom. Mine is to encourage those to think, if nothing more they are searching the Bible to prove me qwrong and it is there that they can find the truth to set them free. Does this make sense? I understand you stance and that may be you place in the kingdom and we need people like you, who will carry the word another step further. Those who will debate politics usually are not sensitive people they are usually willie and brash so like Paul did on Mars hill i am doing on sound off. I use there own philosophy to convey the truth as I did with citizenkan who only seemed to understand Sup Court rulings. Thank so much for your comments and please check back now and again. Blessings
